Chocolate puddle pudding


3 oz self raising flour

2 level tbsp cocoa powder

4 oz butter or marg

4 oz sugar

2 eggs

1 tbsp chopped walnuts

A little milk




4 oz soft brown sugar

2 level tbsp of cocoa powder

½ pint of hot water

A soft sponge sitting in a puddle of sauce.


Cream butter and sugar, mix in eggs, then fold in the sifted flour and cocoa.  Add enough milk to make a soft dropping consistency.


Spoon the mixture into a well buttered 2-2.5 pint dish, and spread evenly.

Now prepare the sauce - mix the brown sugar and cocoa powder, stir in the hot water and mix well.  Pour over the top of the cake mixture.


Cook at gas mark 5/190C for 40 mins.


The cake rises up through the sauce.
